INVITATION TO APPLY FOR A EUROPEAN EXCHANGE

MEDIANE is a joint EU/CoE initiative, aiming at raising awareness to the inclusion of diversities of today’s European societies in the production process as well as in designing media content that contributes to forming public opinion.

By this we offer media professionals working in EU countries – community media workers and volunteers, journalists, media trainers, media owners, editors, students – a chance to broaden their scope by mutually visiting each other for 5 days/5 nights and work on a joint project, sharing their practices of diversity inclusiveness in media content. MEDIANE provides a prepaid ticket and 500 € for each outside exchange period. Participants are requested to produce an output together, such as a media report, journalism training tool, a case study or guidelines for recruitment. They may also evaluate existing media products, training tools or case studies with the aim of including diversity and non-discrimination in design and production of media content.

Apart from the output participants produce together, they will be asked to fill in an Exchange Evaluation Survey and provide a short report describing the exchange process, its learning effect and the approach they used towards diversity inclusiveness. This report should offer guidelines and/or recommendations that could contribute to a greater inclusion of diversity within daily news production and content design.

Please register at the following link if you are interested in participating in an exchange programme. www.surveymonkey.com/s/MEDIANE_EEMPS_Registration

If you yourself are not interested, yet, you have colleagues, students, volunteers, other media trainers, journalists, editors who you think might value such an opportunity, please forward this email within your network.

Once their application has been validated, we will help applicants find an exchange partner unless they already have someone in mind. In latter case they can already apply together. Having found an exchange partner, the two partners will be asked to fill in a joint work proposal which is the first step of the process to prepare an exchange. A minimum of six weeks is required between application and implementation of exchanges.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. You will find all details of the exchange programme at http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/cultureheritage/culture/Mediane/exchanges_en.asp
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,
